ANDY WHITFIELD – NON-HODGKIN LYMPHOMA
Andy Whitfield was popularly known for his role in the television series Spartacus: Blood and Sand. The actor was born in Wales, and he earned a degree in construction from Sheffield Hallam University. He also worked as a construction laborer in Australia. Whitfield also began modeling and acting while working as a building inspector and engineer in a consulting agency. Being a fashion model, he was part of nearly 40 advertising campaigns in Europe and Asia.
He then sought an opportunity in the show business industry and appeared in Australian series like All Saints and The Strip. In 2010, he has diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, which affected his work for Spartacus. Three months after his initial treatment, he was declared cancer-free. Unfortunately, three months after, Whitfield had a relapse. He was laid to rest in 2011, leaving his bereaved wife and two children. As many people have commented, the popular icon was gone too soon.
