After graduating from medical school, Chan married Zuckerberg in a surprise wedding in 2012. In 2015, the two co-founded the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. They committed to donating 99 percent of their money from Facebook shares to improving education, the judicial system, and health care. They then founded CZ Biohub, a non-profit disease research facility. Chan later left her position as a pediatrician to focus on their investments and family.
